PMLD Musical Play Framework

The Musical Play Framework is an exciting new approach to PMLD music-making devised by
Dr Rosie Rushton.

It has gained popularity across the East Midlands, and we are now
working with Rosie to refine the approach and embed it in schools across the region.

What will happen?

Two schools from each MEHEM hub will take part in the project.

Rosie will visit each school for a day, demonstrating the framework in up to 4 PMLD classrooms, then supporting staff to continue to use it in lessons through visits, mentoring and reflection sessions.

Each school will receive:

  • Two whole day school visits, working with up to 4 PMLD classes and training classroom staff

  • 1-day external training for two teachers

  • Half-termly reflection and mentoring sessions for 2 staff

School Requirements

What we are looking for in our partner schools...

We are looking for 10 special schools in the East Midlands who have at least two PMLD classes of any age, and a willingness of staff to develop their skills in the area.

This opportunity is offered fully funded by MEHEM UpRising with thanks to Youth Music. We will use the learnings from the project to develop an online training resource for teachers, similar to the UpRising Balloon.
